A Christmas Memory

1974 December - 2016 December

Created by Jacquie 6 years ago

A wee bit of magic

and a dusting of hope

Created over time

Is slowly sprinkled with care

Lists planned and chattered

Hints dripped in excitement

Dreams turned into wishes
With a slight nip in the air

Stories of years gone by

With Sentiments treasured
Hanging old crepe decorations
The tree is no longer bare

A wise man sits on top

Takes pride within the tinsel
His yellow coat may be faded
But his crown is still there

A pit sock fastened tight

Checked, measured and stretched
It'll be filled in the morning
Thoughts of cinders won't scare

Goodnight and get to sleep

For tinkerbell will be at the window
Peeking through the curtains
So tiptoe quickly up that stair

Then in comes Uncle Tam

His whispers booming loud
Has the big man no been yet
Help ma Boab, we've time for one mare

Butterflies in the tummy

All huddled, creeping  down
The hall is in darkness
Open the door if you dare

Now stand back a wee minute

I will need to peek n check
He might no have left yet
To catch him now widny be fair

A slight glimmer of light

Has he been Dad? Let me see
Silhouettes of surprises
As we all stand and stare

Then the rush of excitement

As wishes turn from dreams
Did you see what he left me
I must have been good all year.
