Kenny Walkers Just Giving for Prostate Cancer UK

KENNETH WALKER 29th June 2019 This event has closed

Story

On 29 June I will be taking part in the Grand Depart Classic, riding the whole of the first road stage of the 2019 Tour de France, the week before the pros.  I will be attempting to complete the 192km in less than 12 hrs to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

I lost my father in law, Jim Sinnet, to Prostate Cancer at aged 68 after
an 8-year battle.  He was diagnosed with the illness just after he retired aged 60.  Throughout his fight, Jims courage and determination never faltered.  Alas he was taken from us in 2016 - far too early.

In the UK it is estimated that one in eight men will get Prostate Cancer
in their lifetime.  It is now the most common cancer in men.  More money is needed to progress the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support desperately needed.  We can stop Prostate Cancer being a killer.

In completing this event I want to contribute in a small way to their work in raising funds and awareness. Your donation will make an impact.
